OUR STORY

Co-founded in 1995 by Suzanna Lambert and Barbara Pérez-Diaz, Mariachi Santa Cecilia is a highly sought-after, professional mariachi performing extensively throughout Central California. Around their private event bookings, the group can be heard delighting appreciative crowds with original compositions and Mariachi classics at the famous San Jose Flea Market, where they have been performing regularly as the" house Mariachi" for the past 29 years. 

The core members still include co-founders Barbara and Suzanna along with two generations of musicians– a beautiful blend of seasoned instrumentalists from Mexico, as well as a new generation of locally-born members, raised in the Mariachi tradition in the South Bay Area. 

All of the group's core members are educators and have been instrumental in the foundation of local youth music programs in San Jose and surrounding areas. Many members also regularly teach at Mariachi conferences and music festivals across the Southwestern United States. 

The group has twice been invited to represent the city of San Jose in the "Encuentro Internacional de Mariachi" in Guadalajara. Mariachi Santa Cecilia has also been invited to open for the esteemed Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán on both their tours and when performing locally.
